How to get the XRP airdrop? Free Flare Network (SPARK) tokens
Last Updated on 8 April 2024 by CryptoTips.eu
The Flare Network team announced that it will take a snapshot of the XRP amount on XRP wallet addresses to facilitate their airdrop. The new Flare platform helps customers run smart contract services on XRP, using a virtual machine powered by Ethereum. In addition, Flare uses the same coding as XRP and will be able to combine the use of Flare and XRP.
Update: The snapshot was successfully taken, you can move your XRP again. The SPARK tokens will be airdropped in Q1 2021.
Flare is scalable and does not rely on the original SPARK token for security, eliminating the risk of security degradation. It integrates EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) for smart contract development. The SPARK token will be a XRP Utility fork. So how do you receive your XRP airdrop?
How to claim free SPARK tokens?
First of all, you need to own XRP tokens. Check out where you can buy XRP:
- Binance (worldwide + 20% lifetime fee discount + Binance will support the airdrop)
- Bitvavo (cheapest in Europe)
45 billion SPARK tokens will be awarded to XRP owners at a ratio of approximately 1: 1. So if you own 500 XRP you will be rewarded with around 500 SPARK tokens. The wallet or exchange needs to fully support this airdrop. You can see an overview of supported exchanges below:
Flare supporting exchange list. https://t.co/GuLVEpGggM
— Flare (@FlareNetworks) November 24, 2020
The easiest way is to use one of the supported exchanges and transfer your XRP before December 12 (at least two days before to be certain).
The XRP balance snapshot will be taken on December 12, 2020 and SPARK tokens will be distributed to XRP holders in Q1 of 2021. On December 12, they will check how much XRP a wallet owns and based on that, the airdrop will be issued 1: 1 in the first half of 2021.
The easiest method is to just send your XRP to a supported exchange. Claiming the XRP airdrop tokens with, for instance, Ledger is quite technical and can be risky.
Supported exchanges
Some of the biggest exchanges that confirmed the XRP airdrop support:
- Binance
- ProBit
- Crypto.com
- eToro
- KuCoin
- Kraken (confirmation of the airdrop support)
- Bitstamp
- Bithumb
- Bitfinex
- Poloniex
- OKEx
- Huobi
- Binance.US
- Coinbase (Coinbase confirmed their support on December 6)
You can just keep your XRP in the wallets of one of these exchanges and your SPARK tokens will be airdropped in Q1 2020 to your wallet. Check for the full exchange list the tweet above.
Not yet confirmed exchanges
These exchanges have not yet confirmed the airdrop or are not supporting the XRP airdrop:
- Almost all big exchanges will support the Ripple airdrop.
We keep this list updated.
How to move your XRP to a supported exchange?
Below you find a small general tutorial to move your XRP funds to a supported exchange. We recommend to use the biggest exchange in the world: Binance. Please note that there can be a difference with your current exchange interface. The tutorial is based on moving your funds from Coinbase to Binance. Sending your funds correctly is your own responsibility, you can lose your funds when you make a mistake. A best practice is to try it first with a small amount.
- Go to your currency XRP provider. This can be an exchange or a wallet.
- Go to your Ripple (XRP) funds.
- Search for a Withdrawal or Send button, keep this tab open.
- Go to Binance in a new tab and register an account or login.
- When you’re logged in to Binance, go to Wallet (top right) and hit Fiat and Spot.
- Search for XRP.
- Hit Deposit.
- An unique XRP deposit address and tag will be generated for you.
- Go back to your current XRP wallet/exchange, and hit the Send/Withdrawal button.
- Copy the XRP Address and XRP Tag from Binance (please re-check if you copied both addresses correctly) and hit Send/Withdrawal.
- In most cases you have to confirm the transaction.
Your XRP will be send to Binance within minutes and you will receive a confirmation email when the funds are successfully deposited.
How much is the XRP fork worth?
The XRP Utility fork value is based on supply and demand, but people are expecting that it will be launched at a value of $ 0.01 cents. This will be totally free, that’s why the XRP price is currently rising.
So you have until December 12 to take the steps to receive the XRP airdrop fork.
Supported XRP airdrop wallets
These major wallets are supporting the SPARK token claim. Please note that you have to register to be eligible.Â
- Exodus
- Ledger
- Guarda
- XUMM
- MetaMask
- GateHub

So I have some XRP in my Kraken account. What would I need to do to take advantage of the free SPARK tokens? I’m new to cryptocurrency, and trying to learn as I go. Thank you in advance for any help/advice.

Hi,
Most exchanges are still deciding whether they are supporting this airdrop. Just wait until Kraken gives you more information about this. When it’s still not clear around December 10, withdraw your XRP tokens to an exchange or wallet that supports the XRP airdrop.

Hi,
If I use Celsius as a bank/savings account and my XRP is on the site will the SPARK automatically be credited to me?

30 November 2020 @ 00:49
Flare / XRP. The recommendation is not to store on binance but to use their trust wallet, but this wallet doesn’t look to be part of the airdrop. Is this correct as I thought it’s risky moving funds out of your wallet onto an exchange.
CryptoTips.eu
30 November 2020 @ 09:38
I’m not saying to store it on Binance, but only hold it there during the snapshot. It is, in my opinion, riskier to play with your private keys than transferring your funds. But there are limitless possibilities to get the SPARK airdrop, you can choose the one that suits you the best.

So is it safe to say that I can move my coins off the supported exchange or wallet after the 12th of December, assuming that is still the date where the snapshot is taken?

I ended up moving mine from kraken to celsius already. Since you can earn some interest on them as well while you wait.

Hi,
Kraken announced they’re supporting the airdrop. So you may keep your assets in your Kraken exchange or move them still, if you’d like. Cheers.

Hi All, if I move my xrp to a supporting wallet, and it’s there on the 12 for the snapshot, can I just remove it right after?
CryptoTips.eu
25 November 2020 @ 12:55
Yes, when the snapshot is taken, you can move your coins! Make sure that you move the funds around 10 December to a supported wallet. Binance, for example, suspend withdrawing and depositing starting from 2020/12/11 10:00 PM (UTC).

Really? I was told to get the ledger. What is the best place to store my xrp? I have most in my nano ledger, some in coinbase and some in exodus. Is exodus supporting the drop?
CryptoTips.eu
29 November 2020 @ 11:52
The safest way to store your XRP is in a cold wallet, so a Ledger would be fine. Exodus is listed as one of the supported wallets, but you won’t get the tokens automatically. Follow this tutorial for Exodus:

Hello can anyone please clarify , the following is the formula to be used by bianance in awarding Spark tokens for XRP holders
User A = Amount of XRP held by User A at the time of snapshot / Total XRP held by Binance at the time of snapshot * Total SPARK received by Binance for the airdrop
How much would this mean in practice?
if i deposit 10,000 XRP to bianance, how many spark tokens will i get?
CryptoTips.eu
26 November 2020 @ 07:57
The distribution ratio is around 1:1, so with 10,000 XRP you will receive ~10,000 SPARK

Hello,
Thank you for providing the information and responding to the questions, greatly appreciated.
I’m new to the crypto world and I just invested in XRP on kraken. I will wait to see if kraken will participate in the spark airdrop but if not then hopefully I can find a way to put my xrp into a wallet that will be recognized.
My question is, do we take the snapshot? or will it be done automatically? And can we sell our XRP soon after? or do we have to wait until we receive the tokens?
Thanks again for your time,
CryptoTips.eu
29 November 2020 @ 16:06
The snapshot will be taken by Flare Network (so automatically). Yes, you can sell your XRP after the snapshot is taken and you don’t have to wait.
Sas
25 November 2020 @ 22:07
Hi, it might be silly question as I’m new for crypto, but I have seen previous article the disadvantages of doing airdrop; such as getting back worthless coins. How likely XRP go through that?
CryptoTips.eu
26 November 2020 @ 07:58
In the article you read we were talking about the airdropped tokens. So in this case, the airdropped SPARK tokens. The value of SPARK is not yet determined and can be any price based on supply and demand.

Coinbase did not confirm that they will support the airdrop, yet. We think that they won’t support it at all.
Alan
26 November 2020 @ 08:57
Will the airdrop only be assessed on what’s in your wallet or will it also be based on what current open trades you have with a supported exchange? Your article suggests the former but I’ve had conflicting advice which suggests the latter.

26 November 2020 @ 11:02
If I move my xrp to binance is there anything else I need to do to get the spark tokens allocated? I’ve seen a few exchanges indicating they will claim and allocate to their wallet holders, but do not have any details on binance. Of course I can always open with another exchange, but considering I’ve already got a verified binance account, that would be easiest. Cheers.

26 November 2020 @ 11:59
You need to be aware of the following things:
Move your XRP before 2020/12/11 10:00 PM (UTC) to Binance. They will suspend deposits!
Only balances with 10+ XRP are eligible.
XRP margin accounts, crypto loans, pending deposits are excluded.
Listing is not guaranteed.

26 November 2020 @ 14:36
Good day, thank you for the quick reply. So basically, if I move my xrp to binance this week and just leave it there past Dec 12 for the snapshot, I am guaranteed the allocation? No need to claim or do anything else? Saw the formula binance will use, which basically amounts to a 1:1 allocation of the tokens received by binance to holders of xrp on their platform. Am I missing anything?
CryptoTips.eu
26 November 2020 @ 14:54
Yes, basically that’s what you need to do (make sure it’s above 10 XRP). After the snapshot is taken, you can withdraw your funds. No need to do anything else! Good luck!

I have 2 already activated wallets for XRP.

Does Spark is available with Gatehub?
I just need to remove my XRP to my address on Gatehub and thats all?

Hi 👋 have about only 500 XRP, some in Binance, some in coinbase pro and most In an Exodus Wallet. Do you know how f exodus wallet supports Spark? It had a + symbol in the top right which says I’m eligible and registered for the airdrops, but I’m not sure they support Spark. Do you think it would be wise moving all to binance? Or wait for updates to exodus before the 10th, hopefully update will support, and if not move to binance spot wallet.

Hi. So here is my plan and I would love to get your opinion on any holes that may be in it. I have $6K that I have liquid but can’t put on a long hold. I plan on putting it into XRP leading up to airdrop, raise my XRP standing which should raise my spark award. After the snapshot (or after the rise of XRP tapers off), I will cash out my $6K but then wait on quarter one of 2021 to receive my Spark, which SHOULD include the extra 6K spark that I invested in XRP before the airdrop. Then I will gauge whether to hold or cash out the Spark. What do you think? #Newbie
