Bitcoin has best January since 2013 while Musk confirms he’ll eat McDonalds live if Dogecoin payment is accepted

Back in 2013, Bitcoin started the year incredibly well, gaining 51% in the month of January. Since then that month has not been too phenomenal… until 2023 apparently as Bitcoin is on track to end the month with a 40% gain, its second best performance ever.
Elon Musk, about the biggest fan of memecoin Dogecoin, has once again repeated his offer to eat a McDonalds happy meal (the children’s menu in which a toy is included) on live television if the American fast food chain allows him to pay in the popular cryptocurrency Dogecoin. McDonalds did not respond yet.
Around the same time last year, Musk had already announced that he would do this and this time he was asked if his offer was still valid. Musk replied with “100%.”

Twitter payment
Dogecoin originated as a true parody of established cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. The coin’s inventors, Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus, wanted to demonstrate that people are willing to invest their money in anything, without doing any research whatsoever. Dogecoin is therefore seen as the ultimate ‘memecoin’.
Dogecoin has crept back into the top 10 most popular crypto coins in recent weeks. Last year in November, when the Tesla boss took over the social media platform Twitter, the cryptocurrency doubled in value in about a week. After it turned out that Musk had no plans to use Dogecoin as a means of payment for Twitter, the price fell again. In January 2023, Dogecoin is doing well and rose from 7 to 8.5 cents.
