Bitcoin continued its upward trajectory over the weekend and briefly touched $40,000 again on Saturday afternoon, however profit takers closed their positions due to the current geopolitical market risk. Terra continued its positive momentum and has by now gained 55% in a week.

Bitcoin donations to Ukrainian NGOs

Wherever global protests or conflicts are, crypto is being used as a means to get money to people who need it most. Last year it was students protesting in Nigeria, earlier this year the so-called Freedom Convoy in Canada. This week it is Bitcoin donations to the Ukrainian military, which, according to the latest updates, surpassed $13,7 million.

You can also donate your crypto by using these addresses:

Come Back Alive, a non-governmental Ukrainian organization that was formed in 2014 after Russian-backed forces invaded Crimea (in the south of the country), admitted it received by now almost a million dollars in Bitcoin donations, and the money keeps flowing in.

Other groups, such as the Ukrainian Cyber Alliance have by now received more than $100,000 in Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin as well as several other altcoins.

Elliptic founder Tom Robinson:

Whereas some crowdfunding and payments companies have refused to allow donations to be made to groups supporting the Ukrainian military, cryptocurrencies have emerged as a powerful alternative.

Ukraine in 2021 became one of the first countries in the world to legalize bitcoin usage.
