The term #BitcoinMeg was trending as Europe woke up today. This is because US rapper Megan Thee Stallion decided to give away 1 million in Bitcoin to her female fans via the Cash App. The Cash App from US company Square got a boost from the news and Megan got a whole lot of new fans.

Cash App is the well-known digital payments system that wants to compete with PayPal and Venmo, the companies that currently dominate the US digital payment landscape. The App is part of the company Square, which is led by prominent Bitcoin supporter Jack Dorsey, the celebrity CEO of Twitter. Because of this, Megan’s tweet quickly trended.

1 Million each?

Some of her fans were confused though, as they believed that Megan would give them 1 million each. In the end they received only some Satoshis, which translated into about $11 per person. Still, not bad for a tweet of course.

In order to celebrate her signing up to the Cash App, rapper Megan said:

Thee Hot Girl coach is OFFICIALLY on team @Cashapp ! To celebrate I’m giving $1 MILLION in Bitcoin to as many hotties as I can! Will be giving out this million units until its gone, so drop your $cashapp below w #BITCOINMEG to get a piece.

In order to qualify for the giveaway, female fans of the rapper had to tweet short bios about themselves and include their Cash App account names. They received money soon after.
