Brave tackles phishing
As a reminder, phishing is a scam process that consists of pretending to be a trusted site in order to steal funds from victims. The practice is unfortunately common in the cryptocurrency world.
This is why Brave browser wanted to help its users protect themselves from it, as it explained in a tweet:
Brave now uses @PhishFort's open source anti-phishing solutions for our in-browser Crypto Wallets to better protect our users. PhishFort's spam list detects crypto scams and immediately warns our users of any suspicious domains.

A plug-in directly integrated into the browser
PhishFort is already used by other big names in the cryptocurrency world, including Paxful and Binance Labs. The proposed solutions combines human analysis with machine learning tools to detect new threats.
The idea, according to a statement from PhishFort, is to react instantly, and alert Brave users when they are going to send cryptocurrency to a phishing site, rather than attacking the site after it has already claimed victims.
This process will be performed on the Brave browser using its plug-in PhishFortPlugin.
The PhishFortPlugin already has 18 million monthly active users and it has been integrated directly into the Brave browser.
The cryptocurrency space recently had a major case of phishing attack when an Electrum wallet user lost $16 million in Bitcoin (BTC) last week after he was told to update his wallet.
This innovation by Brave shows the crypto browser’s commitment towards the security and privacy of its users.
