The 2021 term Meme Marketing will probably feature in a business book yet to be published. Just as Netflix’s Reed Hastings wrote one of the best and most influential business books of the past year, one written about new ways of marketing is bound to also break ground in the post-pandemic economy which will be unlike the present one.

Meme marketing, or the spreading of your message via memes, should always feature as a chapter. The practice has even led to the birth of a new term: meme-jacking. When marketers hijack popular memes to market their products, it’s called meme-jacking. Given that the average person in the first world spends half an hour per day on social media, this is no wonder.

One of the kings of meme marketing in the cryptosphere is the small altcoin Digibyte. You may have never heard of it, but if social media trend indicators are correct, you soon will.

It is striking that DigiByte as of late is causing such a stir on social media as it has been around since 2014. This is mostly because the coin represents the most decentralized UTXO blockchain and when compared to other altcoins, it is clear to see the opportunities it presents.

Fans are enthusiastic and convinced that this one is the next big thing, which is why the small altcoin is trending so often in Lunarcrush’s charts.

Great number of nodes, great speed

Although DigitByte is based on the Bitcoin blockchain, the former is run more efficiently as the mining difficulty is adapted in real time. Because of this, DigiByte is one of the most decentralized cryptocurrencies in the world and has about 10,000 nodes running worldwide. In comparison, Bitcoin, which is far more popular has some 11,000 nodes worldwide.

Not too much difference there even though Digibyte is still far smaller.

DigiByte also comes with excellent speed and on-chain scalability. The block processing speed is 40 times faster than Bitcoin.

Twitter and Reddit

All these features make sure that DigiByte rules the social media cryptosphere. For such a small altcoin (at the time of writing it is ranked 80 and DGB is trading for around $0,05), it is quite striking that it is one of the most talked about cryptocurrencies on Lunarcrush.

Thanks to Lunarcrush’s ranking, which measures social media mentions, you are able to follow which coins are popular in the cryptosphere. We can tell you that from the looks of it, DigiByte certainly has a lot of fans. On both Reddit and Twitter, the number of mentions is booming as of late.

Of course, its cheap price and many promises for the future make it indeed a possible bet for the years to come. We are sure this one will be mentioned on these pages again.
