Mark Cuban is once again in the cryptonews, this time not for his professed love for NFTs or because he now admits that Bitcoin has more value than a banana, but to praise Dogecoin.

The billionaire owner of NBA team the Dallas Mavericks will, as from now, allow fans to purchase their tickets via Dogecoin.

Cuban seems to have finally buried the hatchet which he once used to wage war on Bitcoin. After having made the headlines many times with his mockery over Bitcoin, he is now very bullish on cryptocurrencies. Earlier this week, his Shark Tank co-star Kevin O’Leary, aka Mr Wonderful, also admitted to being a recent investor.

Bitcoin and Dogecoin for ticket payment

The Dallas Mavericks, the team Cuban owns and passionately supports, were already at the forefront of crypto acceptance when they started admitting ticket payment in Bitcoin. However, it is now Dogecoin that we are talking about.

The NBA franchise will now accept the same coin, Dogecoin, throughout its store, to purchase tickets and merchandise in DOGE. Although we are used to Elon Musk speaking out on the subject, this news is surprising to say the least.

Cuban, who recently admitted having purchase some DogeCoin for his children as well, said that the main reason he did it, was simply because he could.

The official press release read:

The Mavericks have decided to accept Dogecoin as payment for Mavs tickets and merchandise for one very important, earth shattering reason, because we can!  Because we can, we have chosen to do so.  We have chosen to do so because sometimes in business you have to do things that are fun, engaging and hopefully generate a lot of PR. So we will take Dogecoin, today, tomorrow and possibly forever more.
