Donald Trump has half a million worth of crypto, and it’s not Bitcoin

According to documents released for one of the many legal charges against him, former president of the United States Donald Trump has already collected almost half a million dollars in crypto. Interestingly, it is not Bitcoin but Ether. He probably earned this through the sale of his NFT collection last year. His wife Melania Trump also earned well from the sale of NFTs, although the value of her crypto wallet remains unknown.

Because Donald Trump is a candidate for the 2024 presidential election (and the likely Republican nominee) and he is also being charged in various lawsuits, the man must show his finances to the American authorities. Interestingly enough, Trump owns an Ethereum crypto wallet now. Its value is unclear but is estimated at $250k to $500k.

For a billionaire like Trump, this kind of money is chump change, but it is striking as he’s been very critical of crypto and Bitcoin in the past.
During an interview with Fox Business back in 2020, he said:
Bitcoin just seems like a scam. I don’t like it because it’s another currency competing against the dollar. I want the dollar to be the currency of the world; that’s what I’ve always said.
Analysts claim that Trump’s crypto was earned through the sale of his NFT collection back in December 2022. This was considered a ridiculous move by the global media at the time, but the former president managed to quickly sell out all NFTs in his collection.
Donald Trump announced his new NFT collection with a commercial.

His wife Melania Trump also owns crypto in the meantime, also through the sale of an NFT collection. She had far fewer items on offer, but set the price much higher.
It is unclear what Melania’s financial position is as she is not a presidential candidate and is therefore not required to disclose her details.
