If Donald Trump wins the 2024 elections, Republicans promise to roll out the red carpet for crypto

You’ve heard it a few times by now. Most of the world is going to the polls in 2024. There are elections in Taiwan, India, the EU, Russia (ok, ok, I know, ‘elections’) , and… the biggest of them all is coming up in November, in the United States.

We’re still in the process of deciding whether or not Donald Trump will be allowed to run for office, but you can rest assured that we will hear or read something about those elections on a daily basis from now on.

Furthermore, given its popularity among younger voters, you can count on crypto and Bitcoin to become important topics in that race. Republicans are already promising that they will roll out the red carpet for Bitcoin if Trump wins.

Warren

The last four years under President Joe Biden have not been easy for crypto companies in the United States. From Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen over to SEC boss Gary Gensler to Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, everyone in this administration has been very hostile towards digital currencies.

But Tom Emmer, the number two Republican in Congress, has already made it clear that “if the second Trump administration takes place, the president will be a lot more friendly to the crypto industry.”

Of course, that gesture doesn’t just happen naturally. Firstly, companies like Coinbase and Gemini have sent lobbyists to Washington to overhaul opinions on crypto, and secondly, there are several polls showing that crypto owners are more likely to be Trump than Biden fans.

“At the moment, in the populist movement on the right, there’s more fear about the Fed manipulating monetary policy, there’s more fear about central bank digital currencies, which would tend to drive you in a crypto-friendly direction,”

Said Brian Brooks, who served as chief legal officer at Coinbase before becoming a consultant on the Trump campaign.

If Trump wins the election, the plan is to give Hester Pierce, the SEC commissioner who is far friendlier than Gary Gensler when it comes to Bitcoin (her nickname is “crypto mom”), a very nice promotion.
