NFT Hype Continues: NFT Auctions For Disaster Girl, Snowden And Nirvana
Last Updated on 30 April 2021 by CryptoTips.eu
Although the bubble in NFT (Non Fungible Tokens) has been announced and called many times over, the craziness continues. In the past few days, we’ve seen NFT-auctions for Edward Snowden, some iconic Nirvana pictures and the disaster girl meme go up for hefty sums of Ether.
In recent weeks we had seen overly attached girlfriend and nyan cat memes selling as NFTs, but it is clear this was not the end of it.
Disaster Girl
Zoe Roth is a face that everyone has seen as disaster girl. When she was four years old, back in 2005, her parents took her to see a house in the neighborhood that was on fire.
“Disaster Girl,” perhaps one of the most recognizable members of the unofficial meme hall of fame, is now an NFT worth half a million dollars. The 4-year-old girl from the photo, now a college student, plans to pay off student loans and donate to charity. https://t.co/cmJrm3qMbA

As her mom took a picture, Zoe turned around and smiled, and the iconic shot looked like it showed a little girl saying: I did this, I started the fire.
Now 21 years old, Zoe saw earlier this month how the original picture got auctioned off as an NFT, pocketing her family a hefty $430,000. Not bad for a childhood photograph of course.
Nirvana
Photographer Jesse Frohman decided to get in on the hype and has announced that as from next week, 3 May to be exact. He is selling his entire collection of pictures from a photo shoot he did in 1993 with Kurt Cobain, the legendary singer of the grunge-rockband Nirvana.
(1/9) Today I’m proud to announce my first NFT drop of iconic images from my photoshoot of Kurt Cobain in 1993. The images, some of which have never before been seen, are from Kurt’s final photoshoot six months prior to his passing. #NFTCobain https://t.co/Psty3rdWK7

Starting bids are in, and it’s currently opening at 27 Ether, or some $74k already; Expectations are for it to go a lot higher than this.
Edward Snowden
The NFT of Edward Snowden that was auctioned earlier this month sold for a whopping $5.4 million, or some 2,224 Ether. Currently worth $6.1 million, because of the rise of Ethereum.
We have a winner, internet friends. I want to extend a very special thanks to everyone who followed this over the last 24 hours, and the deepest gratitude from EVERYONE at our @FreedomofPress to those who bid on our charity event. You help us make a better world. Stay free! https://t.co/A5SJDs5Sjp

The image, which was called stay free, showed Snowden’s face made from pages of a US appeals court decision. It was auctioned off to celebrate the freedom of the press.
