Russian President Putin sent ‘peacekeeping’ soldiers into the rebel-held eastern regions of Ukraine this morning, sinking Asian stocks, sending the price of oil closer to $100 and drowning Bitcoin, Ether and other crypto coins to levels unseen for the past month or so.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading for $37.4k, Ethereum sank to $2.5k and other major coins like XRP and Cardano were down by more than 10%.

Futures of the US stock markets pointed to a much lower opening there as well. The number of ‘Putin presents bear market’ themed memes were all over social media.

Bonanza Bitcoin mining rig by Intel

Starting with a burning map, the foursome of the Ponderosa ranch riding on horseback was called the gang of Bonanza. Yes, this is how started the American Western television series that ran on NBC from 1959 to 1973. Lasting 14 seasons and 431 episodes, Bonanza is NBC’s longest-running western, and ranks overall as the second-longest-running western series on US network television.

The Bonanza name is now making a revival as the new Bitcoin mining rig by Intel. We’re not quite sure if you are aiming for the same generation there, but guess that the Intel board might have something to do with picking it for marketing purposes.

Perhaps babyboomers want to get into Bitcoin mining and needed a nostalgic name. Be that as it may, it is good to see another major chip manufacturer get into DIY Bitcoin mining.
