Dogecoin, the Shiba Inu-themed digital coin which initially started as a meme, has become the latest obsession for retail traders with too much time on their hands. In the past seven days, the coin has managed to grow by several hundreds of percentages, get mentioned by Elon Musk during his 2-hour Clubhouse interview and has seen the fastest sub-reddit growth on the Reddit platform.

Over at the weekend, Dogecoin was trending as far as Pakistan.

Invitation-only

Elon Musk currently the richest man on earth, entered into the newest social media craze Clubhouse over the weekend, where he even interviewed Robinhood CEO Vladimir Tenev.

During his passage on the invitation-only audio-chat app, Musk spoke about Bitcoin and also admitted that he sometimes jokes about the meme-friendly cryptocurrency Dogecoin. While Dogecoin is “made as a joke” he said, it would be the most:

Reddit growth

Meanwhile on Reddit, the social media forum that has made all the front pages in the world, it is clear to see that WallStreetBets is attracting millions of new users over the past week. Short on it’s heels though, it the Dogecoin sub Reddit, where the memecoin is being discussed.

In the past week also, some 400,000 new Redditors have chosen to join the discussion forum where Dogecoin is being hailed.

Pakistan top trends

Over in Asia meanwhile, the Shiba Inu-themed coin is breaking new ground as well.

This weekend, the DogeCoinArmy was the top trend in Pakistan on Twitter at a certain point. Given that it’s one of the cheapest crypto coins one can buy and that Pakistan is a country of some 200 million people, quite a feat.
