The Russian invasion of Ukraine is, with all due respect to the fights between Serbs and Croats in the 1990s, the first major European land war since World War II. As such, it is having a huge economical impact. Russians, who are seeing the value of their native rubles evaporate, are clearly trying to buy Bitcoin to flee the fiat money which is devaluating.

The world’s biggest cryptocurrency rallied 23% off lows of around $35,000 last week when Russian forces invaded Ukraine. But, as the value of the ruble tumbled and the risk of hyperinflation grows for ordinary Russians, the central bank in Moscow quickly moved to raise its key interest rate to 20 per cent.
By now, it has become clear that more and more ordinary Russians are opening crypto accounts and are transferring their rubles into Bitcoin.
Anonymous offers Bitcoin to surrendering Russian soldiers
Hacker collective Anonymous is offering Russian tank crews $52,000 worth of bitcoin for each machine that they hand over to the Ukrainians. In a message posted on their social media accounts, they said that Russian soldiers who wish to take them up on their offer need to wave a white flag and use the password “million” so that the hacking group can recognize them.
Anonymous declared:
Russian soldiers, everyone who wants to live with their families, children, and not die, the Anonymous global community has collected RUB 1,225,043 in bitcoin to help you.
