The community of Shiba Inu investors and supporters have started a petition asking Amazon to accept the token as payment for goods and services. A goal of 150,000 signatures has been set for the petition which already has 106,109 signatures at the time of writing this report.

Shiba Inu community with over 420,000 holders is requesting that the online giant adds SHIB to its payment options to increase the token’s usability. In the petition, the community stated that the move will benefit both the SHIB community and Amazon which stands to get higher profit margin with more business and it will change the world in the process.

The proposal is quite simple. We of the Shiba Inu Community ( aka The Shib Army on social media ) would like Amazon to seriously consider accepting Shiba Inu cryptocurrency as a form of payment for goods and services. Amazon has changed the world many times since it was created. We humbly request that Amazon once again do so by accepting Shiba Inu.

Shiba Inu breaking new grounds

The petition for Amazon to add Shiba Inu to its payment options is coming just days after the token was listed on Robinhood. This is a long awaited dream that the Shiba Inu community has longed to see come true. The Robinhood listing to a large extent was also influenced by the community which has since been agitating for it.

Indeed, it was a breakthrough for SHIB to be listed on Robinhood with over 22 million verified users. The listing has also led to an increase in whale purchases of the token and much more is expected in the future.

In another development, leading Theater chain, AMC Theater has also added SHIB as a payment option for its movie tickets. Henceforth, customers will be able to spend their SHIB buying tickets for AMC, another major adoption that the token has seen recently. However, if Amazon accepts SHIB as a payment option, the token will be achieving much more than it did with Robinhood or AMC.

It is worthy of note that Amazon has nearly 200 million monthly users and is the number one ecommerce company in the world. This means that SHIB will be exposed to this number of visitors monthly which is likely to increase the number of people buying and using it to pay for goods and services on the website. Of course, this is ultimately very good for SHIB as utility determines the value of a token.

Crypto mainstream adoption underway

Cryptocurrencies are slowly seeing mainstream adoption as many are being used for many purposes online now, mainly purchases. For memecoins such as SHIB, such adoption is a major achievement as they were created only as a joke. Adoptions such as by AMC and Amazon will encourage more people to use crypto and will be a big step towards bringing SHIB and crypto in general to the mainstream users.
