Swiss-based insurance company Atupri Health Insurance has announced that it now offers its customers payment in Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH).
A collaboration with Bitcoin Suisse
According to the official statement, the health insurance company Atupri has partnered with Bitcoin Suisse, a regulated financial intermediary in Switzerland for any type of service related to cryptocurrencies.
Its 200,000 customers can now pay insurance costs with Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH). By collaborating with Bitcoin Switzerland, Atupri does not own any crypto-assets per se, but simply receives Swiss francs once BTC or ETH is traded by Bitcoin Switzerland.
Users can configure this new payment method with just a few clicks on the insurance website. For this service, Atupri does not apply any additional fees, only the transaction fees are the responsibility of the customer.
As digital pioneers in the healthcare industry, we anticipate social trends and deliver insurance solutions with long-term perspectives. Blockchain technology and the associated use of cryptocurrencies will become increasingly important.
Said Caroline Meli, Marketing and Sales Manager at Atupri.
Switzerland, a pioneer of cryptocurrencies in Europe
In recent months, many Swiss banks and companies have been offering new cryptocurrency-related services. Last August, Basler Kantonalbank (BKB), a Swiss public bank, said it will offer cryptocurrency trading and custody services from 2021 through one of its subsidiaries.
Last July, InCore bank became the first financial institution in Switzerland to offer banking services to customers of the Kraken exchange.
All this is supported by real support from the local government, which does not hesitate to adopt several laws to help create a regulatory framework favourable to the development of blockchain companies.
In addition to the fiscal framework already favourable for more years for cryptocurrency traders, Switzerland is making numerous efforts to ensure that this ecosystem develops under good conditions. By removing the legal hurdles that stand in front of crypto companies, Switzerland is ensuring it remains a land of innovation for this growing sector.
By working with Bitcoin Switzerland, insurance company Atupri proves that the process of accepting cryptocurrencies can be completely transparent for a business. Hopefully this initiative will serve as an example to convince other companies and companies to do the same.
