Telegram CEO interview with Tucker Carlson provides new boost for Toncoin

About a month ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave an interview to an American journalist. It became one of the best watched interviews ever. That is because that American journalist, like him or not is Tucker Carlson. He was once the most famous anchor at Fox News, but had to resign last year. Ever since then he started his own show and website. His programs are streamed on X and YouTube.
Earlier this week he interviewed Pavel Durov, the CEO of Telegram. This provided a small boost to Toncoin, the cryptocurrency with which influencers are paid on that social media platform. Yesterday, Toncoin overtook Dogecoin on the CoinMarketCap rankings, becoming the 8th largest digital coin.

There were quite a few remarkable passages in the interview that the otherwise media-shy Pavel Durov gave.
He claimed that Telegram left Russia due to his country’s invasion of Ukraine and that his company was pressured by the Kremlin to publish positive stories about Russia, which he refused to do.
He also continues to be a Bitcoin Hodler who has been investing in crypto since the beginning. This is probably also why Telegram has its own cryptocurrency.

In any case, it suited the cryptocurrency Toncoin, the official digital currency of the Telegram platform, quite well. The overall crypto market is still in a slump, but Toncoin is emerging as one of the only winners of the past week. By now, it has overtaken Dogecoin and claims the 8th place on the CoinMarketCap ranking.
