Once upon a time it looked like Mean Girls star Lindsey Lohan was destined for a great career. In the beginning of the 2000s, with movies like Freaky Friday, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Herbie: Fully Loaded, the teen star looked like she was gonna make it big. But then, as the Americans say in politically correct terminology, substance abuse hit her, aka she took way too many party substances all at once.
By now, she is mostly known for drunken tirades or parties, but still has retained a loyal fan base which grants her star power on the internet.
This week, in a short 12-second video, widely distributed on social networks, the fallen star now promotes the two most famous cryptocurrencies on the planet Ethereum and Bitcoin and claims they will end 2021 at respectively $10,000 and $100,000.

Now before you go thinking that Lindsey is all into crypto nowadays, the simply received payment from a follower of Cameo, a site where celebrities (who are, as the British tabloids would call it, on the B- or even C-list) offer to make videos in exchange for money.
The sponsor of Lindsay Lohann’s video would have paid the modest sum of 350 dollars for these 12 seconds of promotion of our cryptosphere.

Luckily for the actress, Bitcoin and Ethereum are not considered securities, as some celebrities before her have gotten into big trouble with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) after practicing this kind of promotion for a fee.
Dubai
Anyone that could get Tesla CEO Elon Musk to do the same thing for their own crypto can probably get a jump in interest from social media (and probably price) in return, which is why it is normally forbidden to promote securities.
Given that La Lohan now mostly spends her time in sunny Dubai where she is constantly promoting products on all social media platforms, she probably ain’t worried about the SEC that much. Her video Bitcoin and Ethereum video has been watched some 500,000 times by now, numbers that are considered trending for a 12-second stint.
Not bad for a 350 dollar investment of course.
Oh and there are of course the comments, which claim that any celebrity endorsement means the peak has been reached. Let’s see in a month whether this was it.
