UNICEF New Zealand has just signed a partnership with the Bybit exchange to assist with their ongoing COVID-19 efforts in the Oceania nation.
UNICEF explained its choice to partner with Bybit in a statement on its website. According to UNICEF the partnership will allow users of the crypto derivatives platform to donate part of their cryptocurrencies to the COVID-19 relief efforts.
Bybit will also launch a trading competition with prizes that will be partially donated to UNICEF New Zealand.
Ben Zhou, CEO of Bybit, welcomed the partnership:
Children are our future. UNICEF, the largest organization in the world providing help to these children through tireless efforts and innovative solutions, was the natural choice for us.
The funds raised from the Bybit competition will be used to take care of children in Asia.
UNICEF also explained what the funds will be used for. Priority will be given to helping children affected by the COVID-19 crisis. This will be, for example, sending masks and other protection to hospitals in Yemen, helping Syrian children to access education or vaccines for Laotian children.
UNICEF has distinguished itself in recent years by accepting cryptos for donations. Recently, we also learned that Ubisoft had joined the charity in order to tokenize the Raving Rabbids Token.
In addition, the latter had launched a cryptocurrency fund, in partnership with the Ethereum Foundation.
Crypto firms have contributed different quota to stemming the COVID-19 pandemic crisis
The blockchain industry has responded well to the COVID-19 pandemic with several top players donating to stem the pandemic.
VeChain recently co-designed and launched a COVID-19 records app with I-Dante. The app named E-HCert App is based on VeChain blockchain and will be used by the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus.
The app is to help in battling the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic by reducing the hardship placed on the healthcare systems across the globe.
Leading exchange Binance also raised a COVID-19 fund for hospitals and healthcare centers across the world.
