These memecoins are the big winners of the first quarter of 2024

Last Updated on 31 maart 2024 by CryptoTips.eu

Monday is 1 April and the first quarter of the year will be over. It is time to have a look at those first three months. Bitcoin did extremely well with a gain of about 60%, but those profits are a mere pittance compared to some of the memecoins.

As always, we will leave open whether investing in memecoins is smart, but it is clear that some of these funny crypto coins are very volatile. During a crypto bull run, memecoins can rise as much as 50% in one day. 2024 has so far been no different.

Back in 2021, the value of Dogecoin rose from just a few cents to 75 cents in a span of three months (then it started dropping in price again). In the second half of 2023, Pepe rose rapidly (after which it fell again).

The memecoins were also the big winners in these first three months of 2024. Be aware of the volatility in the event of a crash, of course. These three are the winners of the CoinMarketCap top 100.

All memecoins in this article are available on the following exchanges:

Advertentie.

Floki – 600% higher in Q1

Floki, named after Elon Musk’s dog, entered the CoinMarketCap top 100 this year. The figure used as an image to identify the coin is comparable to Dogecoin and Shiba Inu.

In the first three months of 2024, Floki rose about 600%.

Pepe – 550% higher in Q1

In the United States, the Pepe figure is mainly seen as a symbol for the extreme right. This is precisely why Coinbase, the major American crypto platform, refused to allow Pepe for trading in May of last year. Crypto fans threatened with a boycott of the platform and given Pepe’s popularity, Coinbase eventually relented and allowed it.

This year Pepe is doing very well. In the first quarter, the coin with the image of a frog gained about 500%.

Dogwifhat – 2800% higher in Q1

Dogwifhat is a relatively new meme coin that launched on the Solana ecosystem in November last year. Despite being a newcomer, it has very quickly made a name for itself in the highly competitive world of memecoins.

Arthur Hayes, a celebrity in the crypto world when it comes to price predictions, called on his half a million followers in early March to send Dogwifhat to $2.

This week, Dogwifhat had its best day ever and the new memecoin is already trading for more than $4.

Do whatever you want with it, but remember, memecoins are a lot of fun but also very volatile.
